Just Breathe.
This story involves the following: a coffee pot, a generator, a fan, a screw, and a nail.
Let’s discuss the coffee pot. A while ago, I had been getting up in the morning with a simple thought: “I wish I could have someone make coffee for me some mornings. It would be nice just to wake up and not have to do it myself all the time.”.
One afternoon, shortly after that mental thought, a friend dropped by with a big gift wrapped in wedding paper. She said she was supposed to get me this gift and had to wrap it in wedding paper. This was kind of weird because I am not getting married, but I opened it. It was a Ninja coffee pot! Unlike my coffee pot at the time, it has the option to set a time for coffee to be made automatically. Yep, you guessed it! I have been waking up to freshly brewed coffee every morning since.
Next is the generator. I had been looking at generators for a while debating on whether or not to buy one. I hadn’t felt ready to pull the trigger because they are so expensive. A sweet girl had been recently volunteering at the church I worked at. We were talking one day and she brought up the fact that she had a generator she didn’t need. It was the exact brand I had been looking into. She proceeded to tell me that I could have it!! For free!!! What?!? She had no clue I had been wanting that exact brand and now she was giving it to me. Another close friend, then, did the same thing! He had upgraded and didn’t want two smaller ones he had and said he wanted to give them to me! I offered to pay for them, but was refused. I went from zero generators to three in the span of a month and didn’t have to pay for any of them.
Now, let’s move onto the fan. This particular summer, we had a crazy heat wave. As with everyone, I had been living in less than desirable temperatures in my house. I prayed for the Lord to help me figure out the best and cheapest way to keep my house cool. I decided I should probably just go buy another fan. A week after that thought process, a sweet little friend that had been helping me at church mentioned she had a brand new fan she didn’t need. This reminded me that I still needed to go get one which I ended up saying out loud. She said she would bring me the one she had. I offered to pay for it, but she refused and wanted to just give it to me… for free!!
Lastly, here is the story about the screw and the nail.
I was driving down the road and my bumper on my car had become loose. It had been damaged from a past Colorado trip incident. When I got home I was going to fix it, but I wanted to do my dishes first. A couple days previous to this, I randomly found a screw in my sink. I took it and put it on a wooden sign above my sink, just in case I found out where it came from and needed it. As I started to do my dishes, I saw the screw sitting on the wooden sign. Why was a screw in my sink a couple of days ago? I still had no idea, but it was perfect for what I needed to fix my bumper.
I went outside to start fixing my bumper and just so happened to look down at my tire. There, right in my eyesight, was a small nail that had punctured my tire. About a month ago, I had a nail in another tire and was wondering if I had anymore. It’s been a thought in my mind since getting it patched. I guess I found my answer. Had my bumper not become loose, I would have never seen the nail.
All of these incidents happened within weeks of each other leaving me with an overwhelming certainty that God sees us. He is in all of the smallest details of our lives and He will provide what we need when we need it. Yes, even a screw.
These may seem like coincidences to you, but to me, they are all just a sweet reminder of His love for us. He knows our every thought, worry, or concern and we truly can trust Him with everything we have.
When life gets hectic remember to just breathe and have peace in knowing that God is in the details.
