It was another beautiful, chilly, gloomy day of junkin’! I went with a friend this time! Here’s the deal about that. I normally junk with one kind of person…someone that isn’t clingy. What normally happens when I am with someone is we arrive at our destination, I go one way, and they go the other. We say “I’ll see ya later!” and that’s exactly what we mean. It’s not a social event, it’s a “get in and get out so we can get on down the road” event. That’s what happened this day 🙂
We were on our way to our destination and got side-tracked by a sign that said “BARN SALE”. This kind of sign, to a junker, is what we live for! Our eyes light up, our hearts start racing, our bodies get all fidgety, our seatbelts comes off even if we’re still miles away…it’s amazing and quite sad, ha! It’s the thrill of driving up and not knowing what you’re gonna find! The people you meet, the places you get to see, the history you learn, and the stories you hear are really what it’s all about. Junkin’ is more than finding junk. It’s finding treasures. Finding treasures in a person, beautiful scenery or a rusty piece who-knows-what-it-is. It allows you to get out and experience history in a tangible way. It’s my kind of learning and should be an elective in schools, now that I think about it. O.k. enough said…here’s a few pics of that day!
It was a good day of small finds and a lot of fun! Happy junkin’ y’all!
